Basically, if someone holds it up across the room, is there high contrast, or does it blend to one general color? :) I'm not going to worry too much if they are close.

✦ Step Two: Next, you need to select which books "hit" you. From the list at the beginning of the challenge choose one of any color. Read. Rinse. Repeat.

You can repeat the cycle as many times as you like, just please be sure to throw your books before choosing the next book to help expand our list!

April - Holy Week

Goodreads Post

Each month through June we will be traveling to a new country to join in with their celebrations. This month will be Guatemala's Semana Santa!

(Credit: Lonely Planet)
Easter week is a big deal across the Spanish-speaking world but, an ocean apart, it’s Antigua and Seville that celebrate it with the most gusto. In the Americas, Antigua really comes alive during Semana Santa, when the streets are covered in breathtakingly elaborate alfombras (carpets) of coloured sawdust and flower petals. Dense clouds of incense envelop the streets and daily street processions remember Christ’s Crucifixion. In these processions, dozens of penitents dressed in deep-purple robes carry floats bearing enormous statues of Christ, the apostles and the Virgin Mary – the most revered sculptural images from the city’s churches – and weighing more than 3 tons. Thousands of other penitents walk alongside, ready for their turn to carry the floats.

Gather some friends and carry your float.

May - Festival of the Snakes

_______________

Each month through June we will be traveling to a new country to join in with their celebrations. This month will be Italy's Festival of the Snakes!

(Credit: Lonely Planet)
One of Italy’s strangest festivals, the Processione dei Serpari is celebrated in the tiny Abruzzan hamlet of Cocullo by adorning a statue of St Domenic (the protector against snake bites) with jewels, banknotes and live snakes. The statue is then carried through the village, with the snakes coiling around both the statue and its bearers, before the squirming mass is released back into the forest, leaving the villagers supposedly immune from snake bites for another year.

About 6 weeks earlier, Cocullo’s serpari (snake handlers) will have begun collecting snakes from the area around the village. The snakes are nonvenomous but their fangs are removed anyway, then they are looked after like pets until their big day on the statue.

Duration: 1 Jan - 28 Feb 2017
Individual Challenge

Some of the world's most remote and exciting destinations are not to be found in dense jungles, on airport-less islands or atop towering mountain ranges, but rather in regions near, or even north of, the Arctic Circle. It might be fair to characterize this part of the Earth as stark and barren, but if you look past the weather, there is a lot going on in the Arctic. In order to experience the arctic you must be able to survive. So in this challenge you will need to earn two survival badges before you can adventure to one of the arctic locations.

April is a month for celebrating. It is poetry month. It is also William Shakespeare's birthday. To honor the bard, we have compiled a list of 25 words associated with Shakespeare, his plays, and poetry. There is even a little bonus mini-challenge for those who read some Shakespeare during the month.

The rules are simple. Find the words in the text of the books you are reading. Standard AMMP guidelines apply. Plurals are fine. Five words per badge. Five words per book. A bonus badge is available for those who find all of the words.

The mini-challenge is pretty self-explanatory. Read a book to fit the task and collect the badge for that task.
